XV Años

La Iglesia Episcopal Santa Teresa ofrece una preparación espiritual para las jóvenes que desean celebrar
sus XV años con una misa en una iglesia. El programa para quinceañeras incluye pláticas sobre la
transición de la niñez a la vida adulta, una oportunidad para las jóvenes de planificar varios detalles
sobre la misa juntas con el sacerdote, y el espacio para reflexionar sobre la presencia de un Dios
amoroso en medio de los cambios de la vida. La Iglesia espera que las celebraciones de XV años sean no solamente una ocasión alegre aislada, sino una oportunidad para conectarse más con Dios y con la
Iglesia para recibir la guía espiritual que servirá para toda la vida. 

También ofrecemos misas de 16 años o 18 años; todo lo anterior es aplicable a una celebración de estas 
edades también. Las misas suelen ser en español, pero también ofrecemos la opción de una misa 
bilingüe o en inglés si prefieren. Además de la misa, la iglesia puede proveer adornos y arreglos para el 
templo, música grabada para la misa, o el salón para la fiesta si así­ lo desean.

Santa Teresa de Avila Episcopal Church offers spiritual preparation for teenage girls who wish to 
celebrate their quinceañera (cotillion) with a service (Mass) in a church. The program for quinceañeras 
includes talks about the transition from childhood to adulthood, an opportunity for the young ladies to 
plan various details of the service together with the priest, and the space to reflect about the presence of 
a loving God amidst life changes. The Church hopes that the birthday celebrations would be not only an 
isolated happy occasion, but rather the opportunity to connect more with God and with the Church in 
order to receive spiritual guidance that will be of service for one's whole life.

We also offer services for a 16th or 18th birthday; all of the above is applicable to a celebration for these
ages also. The church service can be in Spanish, in English, or bilingual. Besides the service (Mass), the
church can provide decorations for the worship space, recorded music for the service, or the church hall
for the party if you would like.

Para celebrar los XV años en Santa Teresa, la familia debe reservar una fecha para la misa de XV años 
con por lo menos tres meses de anticipación. La joven debe haber ser bautizada, pero no es obligatorio 
haber sido confirmada. (Si desean, pueden también inscribirse en nuestro programa de confirmación.) 
Las jóvenes tienen la responsabilidad de asistir a una misa los domingos, de hacer cuatro horas de 
servicio voluntario en la iglesia, y de asistir a cuatro horas de pláticas con otras jóvenes y el sacerdote. 
La iglesia pide una donación total de $300, que incluye las pláticas, un ensayo, y la misa de XV años; de 
dicha cantidad, se debe dejar un mínimo de $50 como un depósito para apartar la fecha de la misa.

To celebrate a cotillion or birthday service in Santa Teresa, the family should reserve a date at least three
months prior to the service. The girl should be baptized, but it is not required for her to have been 
confirmed. (If you wish, you may also enroll in our confirmation program.) The girls have the 
responsibility to attend church on Sundays, to do four hours of voluntary service in the church, and to 
attend four hours of preparation talks with other girls and the priest. The church asks for a total 
donation of $300, which includes the preparation talks, a rehearsal, and the service (Mass); of that 
amount, a minimum of $50 should be given as a deposit to reserve the date for the service.

Las pláticas se suelen realizar como un mini-retiro. Los temas incluyen: ¿Qué significa para mí­ la
transición de niña a adulta? ¿Cómo puedo tomar decisiones sanas sobre el noviazgo y el sexo? ¿Cómo 
puedo asumir responsablemente los privilegios de ser una mujer en el siglo XXI? ¿Qué importancia 
tienen los estudios para mí? ¿Qué es la voluntad de Dios para mi vida?

Las jóvenes también leen varios pasajes bíblicos para escuchar mensajes de Dios que aplican a sus vidas. Entonces escogen las lecturas bíblicas para su misa.

The preparatory talks are usually given as a mini-retreat. Topics include: What does the transition from 
child to adult mean to me? How can I make healthy decisions about dating and sex? How can I 
responsibly take on the privileges of being a young woman in the 21st century? How important are my 
studies in school to me? What is God's will for my life?

The girls also read various Bible passages to hear God’s messages that apply to their lives. The girls then
choose the Bible readings for their service.

We invite you to attend a Sunday service in our church, to get to know the church and to see if you would 
like to have your birthday service here. Then, you may request an application form from the secretary or 
the priest, fill it out, turn it in, and leave a deposit to reserve a date. To request more information or an
